Coming in at under 11 pounds, the Oryx provides the experience of a canoe in a backcountry and travel setting. With the Cargo Fly internal storage system standard, it’s also built to take all of your gear for a multi-week expedition on long flatwater rivers.

The Oryx is narrower and longer than the raft inspired Forager and features two specialized ergonomic seats that allow the paddlers to sit upright like a classic canoe. The high seating position is ideal for all day seating comfort, putting in miles, and relaxing while fishing or wildlife watching. The Oryx is also our fastest flatwater boat hull. Experienced whitewater canoeists will be able to run up to Class II+ whitewater with ease in the Oryx, but the Forager is a much better multi-person whitewater packraft.

Due to the seating configuration, the Oryx is best paddled with a canoe style paddle. However, it can be paddled by a single stern paddler with a kayak paddle so that the front paddler can fish, take pictures, make lunch, etc. Therefore, we recommend the Aquabound Shred-Apart paddle with the Oryx.

Internal XL size dry bags can be added on for an additional $3/day.

Shipping

Shipping is auto calculated at check-out.  Round trip shipping is $40/1 raft, $50/2 rafts, $60/ 3 rafts and $70/4 rafts for rafts shipped in Montana.  Rafts shipped outside of Montana start at $50/1 raft and go up from there depending on the shipping time and number of rafts.   If shipping is incorrect at checkout, your card will be refunded/charged accordingly.  Please see shipping rate chart in FAQ for more info.

When in Doubt, Contact Us About Availability

Because of the variability in transit days our business model creates unique challenges for booking software and makes it difficult to display a 100% accurate availability calendar.  If the raft you want isn’t available for your desired dates, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly as it may be an error in our system.  In many cases we can also ship the day after you book and override the default 6 day transit buffer.  We highly recommend contacting us directly for groups of 4 or more as well.  Contact info: 406-272-6468 backcountrypackrafts@gmail.com
